A round-up of GCF and climate news: 14 - 20 January 2023
This week, the Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week (ADSW) kicked off. GCF CFO and COO Hong-Thuy Paterson represented the Fund in high-level events, such as the Sustainable Finance Forum and the Green Hydrogen Summit, and met with industry leaders and key delegations.
At the World Economic Forum Annual Meeting in Davos, USAID Administrator Samantha Power announced the launch of the EDGE Fund, which will mobilise private sector capital for global development projects. Among the first projects slated to receive resources through the EDGE Fund are two GCF initiatives – the Green Guarantee Company and the Barbados Blue-Green Bank.
In other news, UAE and South Korea issued a Joint Declaration on Climate Action, welcoming the launch of GCF's second replenishment. |
